About

Hello, and thank you for visiting Waltsclassicvault.com. I’m a regular American guy who enjoys good movies. I really like enjoyable action, comedy, and family films. A while back, my wife and I were on a search for good movies. We enjoy watching a movie on the weekend to take a break from the normal business of life. We remembered that we always loved the old classics, such as “Mary Poppins”, “The Sound of Music”, “Snow White”, “Swiss Family Robinson”, etc.

Well, while watching some old Disney classic movies, this gave me an idea! I wondered, “What other movies did Walt Disney make back in the day, and are those movies any good?” So, after a brief internet search, I found that not only did Disney make the favorites that most of us grew up watching and loving, they also made a ton of movies I had never even heard of! I had already seen most of the 2D animated movies, such as Pinocchio or Cinderella, and chances are good that you have as well. I also discovered that Disney made several other animated features that did not become well-known, but he also created a wealth of live-action features I had never heard of. Unless you are a Disney movie fanatic, chances are you’ve never heard of most of them either. A “treasure vault,” if you will, of (mostly) fantastic movies that, for whatever reason, have become largely forgotten. I might also mention there are other non-Disney classics as well that I’ll try to review as well.

Thus, the reason for this blog. My wife and I decided, “Why not go back and watch all of the Disney movies in order?!” Let’s just go through the whole kit and caboodle and see what cinema gems we can find!” That’s right, we’ve been on a quest to watch all the Disney movies in order from the beginning. Starting with “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, the one that started it all.

I’m here to give you the lowdown and my review of these movies. I’ll do the legwork so you can decide which ones you and your family might enjoy. Along with the greatest hits, I’ll also share my ratings and reviews of the not-so-well-known movies. For example, have you seen “Third Man on the Mountain”? I didn’t think so. Hint: You should watch it! I hope to also take side roads into other non-Disney films, as well as blogging about things related to classic film and even television.

I’m still on this journey, and as of the time of this writing, we’ve made it from the 1930s into the late 1970s. We recently finished “The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again” (spoiler alert: it’s a winner!). So, the premise of this blog is pretty simple. I’m attempting to watch all the old Disney movies up to a certain point in time (probably around the year 2000-ish), and I’ll give you my honest review of these movies. I also hope to review and blog about other things related to film and television in the future, as well as non-Disney classics. For each post, I’ll first give a brief non-spoiler review, followed by a spoiler warning and a more detailed review.

I’ll give my highs, lows, pros, and cons of these films. I’ll also either recommend, recommend with caveats, or not recommend each movie for family viewing and give a 1-10 overall rating. A 10 would be a practically perfect movie, and we’ll have to see if any score that high!

I am rewinding to the beginning and starting all over again in 1937 with “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, and hope to post a new review every 1-2 weeks.

Finally, I hope you will join the fun and come along on this journey. Remember, movie reviews are subjective. Everyone is going to have a different opinion, and that’s ok. The only thing I can promise is a sincere review.

A little about me, I’m married with kids and enjoy great movies and music. Other interests include sports, cars and history. So, as you read my reviews, remember I’m just a normal guy. As people sometimes do, I may from time to time change my mind about a movie after a subsequent viewing, so don’t think everything I say is set in stone. I reserve the right to change my mind.

I also enjoy different genres of movies, but generally like comedies, epic action/adventure and family movies. Because I’ve dabbled in acting and love drawing and animating, the 2D animation movies have a special place in my heart. I am a Christian, so I do look at movies from a Christian worldview. That being said, I try to be unbiased in my reviews or explain otherwise. On another note, I hope to have contributing writers as we go.

Thanks again for tuning in, and let’s start digging into Walt’s Treasured Vault and more!
